Massage therapist, Georgia, is frustrated by her inattentive boyfriend. Deciding to explore her sexual desires as a unicorn, a person who joins a couple as their third partner, she fulfills her attraction to both men and women. However, her sexual indulgences become increasingly dangerous, putting her life at risk.
Written and directed by Eva Victor, who also plays Agnes, the main character, Sorry, Baby is slow and artsy, but extremely effective. It shows how the trauma developed after a sexual assault has a ripple effect and loudly echoes in the victim and her life for years after.
So with the recent (rightful) public apologies to Britney from comedians and media for trashing her image in the 2000s, perhaps some people should also give Crossroads the fair chance it deserves. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, and that is fine. Personally, I will take my girl Britney and her movie, over the next testosterone "Dude Flick" any day.
The film seems like an extreme interpretation of the conspiracy theorists that exist in real life. And then, there’s the twist.
Ultra-violent storytelling has never been my thing, but the issues with Scarface go beyond that. The film perpetuates harmful stereotypes about Latinx immigrants and uses gore and misogyny for shock value that never serves any purpose. The whole venture is frustratingly empty, and left me desiring something more.
