Purgatory 5: The Family tells the story of a young woman who finds herself in a terrible nightmare while trying to support the family of her ex-boyfriend who killed her. Zeynep, a young woman, is devastated when she learns that her ex-boyfriend Kadir killed her by hanging. Paying condolences to Kadir's family, Zeynep decides to stay with them for a few days in order to support them upon the insistence of Kadir's mother. However, nothing seen in the house reflects the truth. In this process, Zeynep learns about Kadir's death from an entity that haunts the house. Dragged into a vortex, Zeynep finds herself in the middle of Purgatory, the place between two realms.
Overall, Matthias & Maxime doesn't reinvent this romantic concept. But it also doesn't need to. Dolan weaves a story of love, friendship, and life that is both realistic and bittersweet. The film is nuanced and sensual in a way we don't get to see often with LGBTQ characters. It's a film that we can celebrate.

It took writers D.B Weiss and David Benioff two years to give us a promising final season. Two. Years. It was just going to be six episodes, which was short considering that all the other seasons — except season 7 — were 10 episodes. 10. 6 wasn’t enough, and even HBO wanted to give the writers more episodes. More seasons, even. However, the writers wanted to get out of the show as quickly as possible to work on other projects. This abruptness is clearly shown in this season.
