In Israel, in the years following the events of the Social Protest of summer 2011 and the events that followed, life has become more and more difficult for the average citizen. Government corruption and the ever rising costs of living have forced people into a quiet protest, left with no choice but to generally accept the status quo. Eventually, something has to give. Israeli Independence Day 2017. Avner Peles wakes up in an unknown place, tied to a chair and his head covered. He has no idea how he got there or why. A stranger walks into the room and takes a seat in front of him. Avner has to find out why he is there and most importantly, how to get his freedom back.
In 1971, when discussions about how to integrate their school system break down, the community of Durham, North Carolina agrees to bring in Bill Riddick(Babou Ceesay) to conduct a series of summits(charrettes) to help them move forward with desegregation.
As a musical fan, I enjoyed the film and encourage anyone who likes dark humour and a bit of blood to give it a watch.
The film does not add anything to its own conversation or genre, and falls flat once it’s about to end and must declare some sort of conclusion.
Carolina Caroline follows Caroline (Samara Weaving), a bored young woman dreaming of escaping a small Texas town where nothing ever happens. When she meets Oliver (Kyle Gallner) at her workplace while he is conning the owner, she sees her perfect opportunity to get out. Their whirlwind romance strongly echoes Bonnie and Clyde, as the two quickly embark on a bank-robbing spree.
