Animation as a medium of storytelling can be thought to be open to all ages and as I hope my reading will reveal, 'Nimona' could be interpreted as a transgender story.

Kelly’s marriage begins to fracture when violence from the past resurfaces through a demonic presence bound to a black brooch and bearing the face of her lost sister. A confession, a memory and a warning reveal a single counterforce: a white brooch associated with the Virgin Mary. When the entity takes her husband as its vessel, Kelly is drawn into a spiritual confrontation where love, faith and possession collide.
