An old man is lonely after the death of his wife. To fight his boredom, he spends his days making puzzles. The living room walls display dozens of puzzles carefully assembled over his monotonous days. Then one day the old man finds a mysterious box at his doorstep. Inside the box are puzzle pieces. Driven by the desire to discover what it represents, the old man commences to assemble the puzzle. While doing so, strange and uncanny events begin to occur around him.
Marcel the Shell with Shoes On is the most human movie of the year. It is based on the 2010 short of the same name that follows a big-hearted, little shell named Marcel as he navigates through life in a human-sized world.
A lot of us are emotionally impacted by the current pandemic. So, while we’re all stuck here in our homes, it’s great to put on a movie to ease the stress. With that, I made up a small list of some of my favorite feel-good movies.
Considering the runtime, I expected each scene to hit harder as opposed to a series of montages and vignettes.
In addition to the cast being delightfully diverse this time around, the film was just loosely-plotted and action-packed enough to keep a casual fan like myself entertained. While I do agree that the writing of Cole left much to be desired for an original character thrust into a preconceived universe, none of the characters seemed particularly fleshed out in terms of personality; however, I think that's to be expected when you're watching a film literally inspired by a video game.
