Set against the gritty backdrop of New York City, with its fabled boxing history and culture, the film follows Danny, Will and Patrick from their early days as standouts on the amateur scene all the way through their unrelenting climb up the professional ranks. With many documentaries concentrating on the glamor of the fight game and the million dollar purses battled over by the top 1% of fighters, On The Line tells a more sobering story, focusing instead on the realities of professional boxing and the price athletes pay to pursue their dreams and reach the highest level of the sport. Ultimately the film isn’t just a boxing documentary; it’s a study of human nature, and human limits.
