When his younger brother Baran is robbed of his last 20 lira, nineteen-year-old Mami takes it as a personal duty to make it right. Together they comb the gray streets of Sarigazi, Mami growing more volatile with every dead end questioning shopkeepers, chasing down strangers, a knife tucked in his belt should he need it. When he finally finds someone who might be responsible, he beats the man without mercy, only for it to become clear, in the silence that follows, that this may not have been the right man at all. Mami sends Baran home and stays out with friends, trying to shake off what just happened. But back at the apartment, a hard knock at the door brings the consequences of his actions to their doorstep and the version of himself he thought he had to become.

Director and writer, Miles Marti, brilliantly created a film that captures the story of a kid that learns a new reality all within the walls of her classroom. Tears Of Knowing lightly steps into the devastation of loss through a childhood lens, and presents a perspective that is not often acknowledged. Though grief and loss are important aspects, the film also showcases excellent portrayals of trust, innocence, and naivety.
On the Road captures the bleak, hyper-masculine world of long-haul trucking in Northern Mexico, where anything can and will happen. A hard-boiled, neon-noir romantic thriller, it shows the gritty reality of roadside diners, truck stops, and truck cemeteries alongside the expansive, breathless beauty of the Mexican desert highways.
