Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile (2022)

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile (2022) is a live-action family comedy film that is entertaining for viewers and has some diversity among its cast members. New York City is a brand new adventure for the Primm family, but their young son, Josh, struggles to adapt to a new school and friends. That is until he meets Lyle! The singing crocodile living in the attic of his new home. The opening scene shows Lyle as a young reptile in 3D-animated form. He unexpectedly arrives in New York City with his previous owner, Hector. When Hector plays his song on the piano, Lyle joins in on an entertaining duet for viewers. The movie shows Lyle's growth from a juvenile reptile into an adult. His most iconic show outfit is the black and white tuxedo with a black bow tie. However, when the entertainer tries to put on a spectacular show, Lyle gets stage fright. This costs Hector money and the two are separated. Lyle faces a big surprise when Josh, a young boy, discovers a note on his box when he and his family move into Manhattan. Josh has been finding it hard to adapt to the setting in Manhattan, as he states to his parents that there are crimes in the new neighborhood. Josh is scared of the police cars and tough people in the city. One night, Josh is about to be attacked by a bad man, but Lyle saves him by scaring the man away. Josh and Lyle become fast friends afterward. In Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, Lyle also serves as comic relief, as he speaks in singsong. His singing voice is portrayed by Shawn Mendes. The reptile becomes bigger in size to the point when he can barely squeeze himself into a small room. Lyle gradually overcomes his fear of singing in front of people; Josh is surprised and amazed to see him perform a song. Since then, Lyle has gotten adjusted to living with Josh and his family. Josh becomes heartbroken when Lyle gets taken away and put into the New York Zoo, but with support from Hector, Trudy, and his family, they are able to free him. There is some representation of minorities in Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile. Mrs. Primm is played by Constance Wu, an Asian woman. Trudy, the mean girl at Josh's new school, is played by Lyric Hurd, an African American woman. However, Trudy eventually turns into an anti-hero and helps Josh and Lyle perform well in the upcoming show. The main topic of Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is the title character being misunderstood by the general public. The Primms must band together to show the world that family can come from the most unexpected places. In many scenes, Lyle is mistaken for a wild animal by the police officers in Manhattan, Josh's mom, and the grouchy neighbor in Josh's apartment building. The court scene taking place after Lyle's big performance indicates to the viewers how Lyle cares for Josh and his family despite being mistaken for a wild animal. The conclusion shows Lyle bidding farewell to Hector as he joins his new family and starts a new life with Josh.
