In Tijuana, Baja California, life becomes unbearable for a woman who is constantly harassed by a neighbor. Seeking peace and a fresh start, she decides to leave everything behind and cross into the United States in hopes of building a safer life. After finding work, she slowly begins to uncover a horrifying truth: the people she works for are involved in abducting young girls, murdering them, and trafficking their organs. Terrified but determined, she must find a way to gather evidence and alert the authorities without exposing herself to deadly danger. Caught in a web of fear and violence, her courage becomes the only weapon she has against a ruthless criminal network.
I have been a long-time fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever since it made its official debut through 2008's absolutely excellent "Iron Man". The run continued, as did my associated fandom of the films, through the utterly EPIC 2019 finale "Avengers: Endgame".

I write for a diversity-focused film review blog, so I’ll be honest: I really wanted to like Pretty Lethal. Starring Maddie Ziegler, Lana Condor, Iris Apatow, Avantika, and Millicent Simmonds, Amazon Prime’s new thriller seemed like it would be a girl power movie about dancers with a horror action twist. Sort of a Suspiria for teens. But with shallow and unlikeable characters, a confusing plot, an overreliance on violence, and cringey dialogue, any fun the movie started out with was quickly lost. What was left was a faint echo of greater horror movies about dancers made before.
Only time will tell what this new Black Panther and movie will show us with all of the old and new elements of the superhero craft integrated.
