Nowhere, Nobody is a reflection of the life and perspective of Earl Sweatshirt. Through sheer symbiosis, they also reflect the life and perspective of co-writer and director Naima Ramos-Chapman, whose Afrosurrealist vision helped give his latest album, Some Rap Songs, new life.
Carolina Caroline follows Caroline (Samara Weaving), a bored young woman dreaming of escaping a small Texas town where nothing ever happens. When she meets Oliver (Kyle Gallner) at her workplace while he is conning the owner, she sees her perfect opportunity to get out. Their whirlwind romance strongly echoes Bonnie and Clyde, as the two quickly embark on a bank-robbing spree.
So with the recent (rightful) public apologies to Britney from comedians and media for trashing her image in the 2000s, perhaps some people should also give Crossroads the fair chance it deserves. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, and that is fine. Personally, I will take my girl Britney and her movie, over the next testosterone "Dude Flick" any day.

While the film didn’t hit me as emotionally as I wanted it to, I still enjoyed it. I simply wish there was a little more, particularly with the world building.
Netflix takes some liberties in its portrayal of Madame CJ Walker, a trailblazing Black entrepreneur.
