Ulli wants to surprise his partner Susanne with a very special gift: a painter to paint a portrait of her. When Markus Marberg arrives at Susanne's house, it turns out that the two of them know each other from school. However, they didn't like each other at all in the past... During the portrait sessions, which Susanne is initially reluctant to attend, they both confess that they were actually in love with each other at school. Suddenly the two are overcome by old feelings...

As this critic continues to look back at some of this Summer's films I have taken in, I would be remiss if I didn't mention one of the most overall unsettling trends in Hollywood over the last several years.....sequels, reboots, and remakes. Look, I am all for seeing more than one film for certain originals that made a splash, ie: "Jurassic Park", "Pirates of the Caribbean", "Transformers", etc.
I understand that this would have been consistent with the language used by that generation, due to its role in the medical profession, however as someone who has family members with Down Syndrome I took it very personally.
Elio could be seen as fantastic piece of representation, showing lonely children who feel ostracized that they are not alone. That is, unless you look behind the curtain.
This Disney Channel Original Movie shows how two different groups can coexist.
