On the way to the funeral of their estranged father, siblings Rob and James, along with their respective partners, search for a place to grab a bite to eat and stretch their legs. Along the bare stretch of highway, the group comes across a roadside diner and decides to stop in. They are met by the owners of the diner, the Curtis family, and after a strange meal and off-putting conversation, they get back in the car and continue on their way. The course of their trip is suddenly changed by a fatal car accident. Wrought with fear and guilt for what they've done, the group returns back to the diner to call the police and for whatever help they can find. What unfolds is a living nightmare that will uncover the terrible truth that even the best intentions are sometimes met with horrific consequences.
"King Richard" paints a nuanced portrait of a Black father trying to ensure his daughters’ success in a racist, misogynistic world. Yet, Richard and his kids overcome that fear and adversity to succeed.
Where we leave the characters is in such a peaceful and optimistic place. It feels well-earned to ensure everyone gets their own specially-crafted happy ending.
If I had truly wished to witness "Guardians of the Galaxy", I would have stayed home to do so. Instead, I went to the IMAX and took in this newest incarnation of one of the most recognized and adapted superheroes in the DC Universe. **Sigh** Let me be clear here. I am NOT saying this is an AWFUL film.
