This is not a slavery story, it is a freedom story. The viewers only see Harriet as a slave for the first few minutes of the film. To me, it felt like watching the origin story of a superhero…which is both good and bad.
Marvin Gaye's powerful music addresses the same themes as "Da 5 Bloods" and elevates the film to even greater heights.
Like many things, like animals and people, they always evolve. When the first humans walked the Earth, they originated from Africa and were all black.
The more we learned with each passing minute the bigger the reveal. This film ends with a serious bang and it was truly a joy to watch.
A short film that begins with the language of romance but slowly reveals something far more unsettling beneath the surface.
