Young man CHEN Yu returns to his hometown after a long absence. While wandering in the Daba Mountains with a close friend, Yu meets a girl whose father has gone lost, an aunt with vague memory and a stubborn elderly man. They talk about the changes among people from their hometown; someone has gone missing, some have returned with scars and some are about to escape. At the same time, the legend of a wizard named Duangong is fulfilled on Yu from time to time. Things move freely between dream and reality, and the noisy telephone occasionally pulls him out of his dream.
Hiring bias is something that's rampant in all industries (even unconscious bias). But writing a script totally neutral not only opens the door for more diverse actors, but also for characters that are people first.
James Cameron’s “Aliens” (1986) is a pinnacle of science fiction storytelling. Within this classic monster movie lies a powerful female character, Ellen Ripley (brilliantly portrayed by Sigourney Weaver).
The plot could’ve really been interesting if the elements of lycanthropy was integrated with perhaps the struggle of identity of being LGBTQ+. It's an experience for so many that as they’re starting to realizing their true selves, they feel like a monster, especially if they come from unsupportive homes or communities. Instead, the horror and transformation elements seem thrown in without contemplation of how this could deepen the narrative.
