The happy Nikitin family, expecting their first child, suddenly finds itself at the center of a real nightmare. Neither Sveta nor Alexey can put an end to the chain of mysterious events surrounding them — a plane explosion, the kidnapping of Alexey’s sister, and the poisoning of horses. The police begin to suspect everyone who has ever visited the estate or worked for its hospitable owner. A letter secretly delivered to Alexey sheds no light on the situation — the kidnapper demands no ransom for Katya. Alexey’s father sets out first to search for her, followed a day later by Sveta and Karpych… But all three disappear in the forest…
