60 year-old Zohreh's son is missing. Her husband has left her and she lives with her elderly, foul-mouthed mother and recently widowed and short-tempered daughter in the Ekbatan Housing Project. She has a beauty salon in her apartment and life I good until one day when leaflets begin to appear in mailboxes around the housing project that slander Zohreh's character. Her life becomes a nightmare as problems begin to get worse. We soon find out that Zohreh herself is the author of these leaflets that she writes in order to get revenge on herself and other. It is a game where she loses everything but also wins everything back.
Though often underwhelming as a whole, Nevertheless is worth the watch because of the relationship between Sol and Jiwan. It is a stunning, refreshing take on the friends to lovers trope that LGBTQ media has been missing.

Gay representation is out there, but to portray a character who's gay as a big, happy brute is a rare treat.
Years before Mexican director, Alfonso Cuaron, was winning Academy Awards for movies like Gravity (2013) and Roma(2018), he directed a small, intimate film about two best friends who decide to embark on an improvised road trip to spend time with an older, attractive woman who miraculously agrees to go with them. Y tu Mamá También is a deep journey into the raw sexuality and friendship of the young protagonists, as well as a subtle social and political commentary on Mexico at the time.
The plot lags, the moral lessons are misguided, but are those fluffy little donut creatures adorable? Yes. Yes, they are.
So do I recommend that people see this movie, yes 100%, but do I think they are going to come out of it with 80 hot takes, yes 100%.
