Lee Daniels’s Billie Holiday biopic The United States vs. Billie Holiday was released on February 26th, 2021, and my immediate reaction to it was one of discomfort.

Jazlan, who has feelings for Shahira, attempts to win over Shahira's affections and at the same time tries to obtain Afendi's insurance money. When Shahira refuses his advances, Jazlan attempts to rape Shahira but is saved by Afendi, who has recovered from the accident.
