This Netflix TV series is perfect for animal lovers as it is centered on human-dog bonding.

The film is based on real-life events. Alena, a voice-over star, suddenly discovers that her voice has been stolen by the developers a major bank's neural network. Now her voice can be heard everywhere—from airport announcements to entertainment and gaming platforms. Alena realizes that in the modern reality a person's voice does not fall under legal protection. Thus, not only voice-over actors but everyone is at risk. The actress starts a struggle for the right to her own voice.

An aspect of She-Ra that I find refreshing is even though a large portion of the cast is on the LGBTQ+ Spectrum, being gay is never mentioned. While this might initially sound like a negative thing, in the show’s land of Etheria being on the gay spectrum is shown to be so common and normalized that straight isn’t the default. As much as there is to appreciate about narratives revolving around the obstacles that may come from being non-heteronormative, it’s nice to get immersed in a world where no one bats an eye at all to any sort of differing identity.
The social issues The Half of it takes on are handled well, between the antagonization brought on to Ellie for her race and the conflict that arises from her being gay. Both aspects of her character are built up over the course of the film and don’t seem abrupt or rushed. The film shows racism towards Ellie and her and father in varying levels, from having her schoolmates specifically address her as "Chinese girl” to the fore mentioned way her Dad is treated due to language barriers. The same can be said about Ellie being a lesbian. While she never truly “comes out” in the narrative, that does not undermine her journey of self-discovery from being meaningful. These ideas aren’t thrust upon the viewer in a preachy manor, the scenarios that occur feel believable given the rural setting. The film presents watchers with problems whom those like Ellie may face, and leaves us to sit with them and reflect.
With a quirky outline, Project Hail Mary stays within the bounds of human language and imperial fantasy.
