During the siege of Budapest, the nine-year-old Ambrus is taken to the country, to his grandparents. His everyday life is determined by nightmares, the tough country life, the anguish caused by the aircraft noise. Overhearing a conversation one night he learns that his parents were killed by a bomb.
KIMI is the main character of this film and as much as I wish it was Angela Childs played by Zoe Kravitz, it isn't. KIMI is a smart device that works not unlike Amazon's Alexa and Google's Nest assisting in anything from home purchases to music playing all under the guise of only activating when in use.
Overall, 18 Presents feels more like a soap opera than a drama, and I feel bad for saying that since the concept is based off a tragic story (even though it’s loosely). I’m sure other people will find this film emotional for them, but as for me, it’s bland and forgettable.
The Outer Senshi get characterization and some stellar moments in the second part of the Eternal movie duo.
Many have interpreted Maya Deren’s Meshes of the Afternoon as a dream sequence, but what if the repetitive scenes we are given are not dreams but, a time loop.
This is a movie that combines a ghost story, revenge tale, and serial killer obsession into a cinematic experience that uses your fears against you.
Only time will tell what this new Black Panther and movie will show us with all of the old and new elements of the superhero craft integrated.
