Two secret lovers, a disgruntled husband, a narcoleptic hitman, and the mysterious phone-operator pulling all the strings. Over the course of one increasingly booze fueled evening, the hitman trails the odd love birds on their final late night tryst. But this kill may not go so swimmingly, once the margaritas start flowing and a psychoactive toad is thrown into the nightcap cocktail.
Overall, 18 Presents feels more like a soap opera than a drama, and I feel bad for saying that since the concept is based off a tragic story (even though it’s loosely). I’m sure other people will find this film emotional for them, but as for me, it’s bland and forgettable.

This is but one of a multitude of highly emphatic questions, and subsequent answers, being asked in the newest feature film from one of the current masters of horror, Jordan Peele ("Get Out", "Us" and "Nope"). I must give Peele credit in that he continues to push the boundaries of specific genres and their associated tropes in order to provide what ends up amounting to subtly then jarringly intense, yet still character and story-driven, cinema that speaks more to indie stylings than mainstream.
