She goes undercover in his company to find the truth. As Xuan Xuan makes her way closer to him, she starts realizing he's not as evil as she had originally thought but definitely smarter than she expected. Zhang Yiqun knew of her identity from the beginning and gives her free reign in his company to find out the truth herself. The 1950s lesbian romance is stunning, emotional, restrained, and, simply put, one of the best movies I’ve ever seen depicting a woman-loving-woman (WLW) relationship.
Battles will come and go and queer people do die for their identity and fights for rights, but that doesn’t mean the gays don’t deserve their happy endings in stories.
Overall, The Shining is a great film to watch for its atmosphere and setting. While the characters’ portrayals could’ve been more accurate to the book, they’re all still memorable nonetheless.
