A short film that follows the comedic journey of Jess who has recently returned to the dating scene. After the break-up of a long-term relationship, Jess awkwardly tries to embrace her newly found singleness. One day Jess is approached by her cousin, Kristen who is eager to play matchmaker and her efforts only leads Jess down a path of confusion and chaos. This is until a brief and unexpected encounter catches her off-guard and her luck starts to look like it may change. This hysterical indie short takes audiences through the awkward, relational experiences of dating and how when you meet that person, who makes your heart skip a little....the journey all makes sense.
Wild Child tells the story of a wealthy, spoiled teenage girl named Poppy Moore who lives in Malibu, California, who attends a boarding school in England. This film shows us how Poppy is first labeled as a fish out of water compared to her boarding school classmates, as she is a wild child, but eventually earns her roommates' friendships and respect.
If you are a discerning movie watcher and/or an African-American with a modicum of Black consciousness, this film isn’t for you. It would be better to watch the documentary ‘They Fight’ to see the impactful, emotional story of Walter Manigan and the young men of DC’s Ward 8.
Severance is about breaking down facades and confronting old models that were once frameworks of our lives. The somewhat subtle message to me is it’s never too late to fall in love, no matter your insecurities.
The film exhibits a respect for the craft and an empathy for human tribulations that have historically been ignored.
