Salim arrives in France, happy like a hummingbird at the idea of joining again with Sofia, a young French woman of Moroccan descent whom he married there according to the country tradition. But he quickly becomes disillusioned when she tells him she no longer wants to be his wife. Here in France she is free and nobody can force her. Between brothers and sisters who support Sofia, a disoriented Salim who wants to return to Morocco, and parents who would like him to build a new life in France, with or without Sofia, the situation is intractable. Marriage Blues, a bittersweet comedy, is thumbing its nose at the arranged marriage.
Films and TV series often tend to misrepresent or not acknowledge bisexual characters, but recent trends show that bi-erasure is now under deserved scrutiny. So, I’m genuinely happy about the direction bi-representation seems to be taking.
Years before Mexican director, Alfonso Cuaron, was winning Academy Awards for movies like Gravity (2013) and Roma(2018), he directed a small, intimate film about two best friends who decide to embark on an improvised road trip to spend time with an older, attractive woman who miraculously agrees to go with them. Y tu Mamá También is a deep journey into the raw sexuality and friendship of the young protagonists, as well as a subtle social and political commentary on Mexico at the time.
Disney has hopefully learned some lessons since 1994. Are those lessons reflected in the 2019 remake of "The Lion King?"

On the Road captures the bleak, hyper-masculine world of long-haul trucking in Northern Mexico, where anything can and will happen. A hard-boiled, neon-noir romantic thriller, it shows the gritty reality of roadside diners, truck stops, and truck cemeteries alongside the expansive, breathless beauty of the Mexican desert highways.
This side-splitting workplace comedy features a diverse cast and tackles challenging social issues. Other sitcoms should take note.
