Set against a background of drugs, sex, multiple partners and differing sexualities, Longing Nights follows the individual stories of these young people. One Night in Miami... did not frame the racism and bigotry as something that could be solved by quality time spent between individuals. Instead, it featured four different legends of Black History together in one room disagreeing for about 2/3 of the film.
Is Anyone Really "Awake?" or Did This Movie Bore You to Sleep?
This film was filled with great plot points. Unfortunately, they all contradicted each other and clashed. Had the premise of Awake been more consistent and accurately portrayed the real world aspect, I think this could have been an extreme success.
