The third school year begins in Ukraine under the shadow of a full-scale war. Natalia, a teacher in a seemingly peaceful Ukrainian city, is about to welcome a new class. She creates an island of safety and joy for her fifth-graders, which helps her to abstract from worries about her own son, who serves on the front line.
I came across Urchin by chance and decided to watch it because of the title. It made me think of the spiky animal that lives at the bottom of the ocean, and the old Dickensian novels, where an urchin was an orphaned, homeless child in shaggy and dirty clothes.
Twisting what seems to be obvious setups and frameworks is what sets the story structure of Squid Game apart. I appreciate that this narrative is complex but not complicated; an easy enough plot to wrap your head around while still treating the audience like an equal participant in this social commentary
We're in the midst of July, the month in which Americans are supposed to be at their most patriotic! With barbecues, beach trips, and fireworks galore, this is the month where we celebrate our country. For Incluvie, that primarily means diving into the wonderful "melting pot" of the diversity of American film! In between celebrating and feasting, it's important to remember the very basis this country is founded on: "liberty and justice for all."

However, what if someone was experiencing daily life with these elements….only in a more muted manner?
