'Honor Roll Boys' (MiamisFF Review): A Bit of Harmless Fun
Initially feeling like a passionate group having a bit of harmless fun with filmmaking, it leads to something sinister enough to leave a mark.

The protagonist has no memory of her father. However, as she watches the films he made before she was born, in which several young girls appear, she begins to suspect if there had been nothing between her father and her. To forget her loneliness and stay afloat she keeps a diary. Men begin to irritate her, she is increasingly attracted to women and desperately seeks a mother, a friend, a lover.

A dynamic journey of self-acceptance and identity.
A haunting look at grief, survival, and a mother’s quiet collapse in a world that never gave her room to fall.
I highly recommend Dark Waters. It’s a highly engrossing picture, which lends itself to cautionary storytelling. The dark information continually grows, inspiring change and accountability altogether. Overall, Haynes’ picture will not be known for its inclusiveness--but it will be known for being a fantastic, engrossing film.
