Inspired by the filmmaker's life experience, Ketchup & Soya Sauce is a feature documentary highlighting how partners in mixed relationships involving a first-generation Chinese immigrant and a non-Chinese partner celebrate and manage their cultural differences. The Canadian participants range in age from 20 to 90 years old and are in either a heterosexual or homosexual relationship. The documentary depicts an 80-year evolution in culture and attitude toward mixed relationships in both China and Canada. It explores the participant's social background and how their romance began as well as food habits, language and communication, intimacy, financial management, child education, pop culture, and culture shock. The documentary's tone mixes humor with reflective and emotional moments.
One of THE most frustrating trends in the mainstream film industry over the last several decades has been the onset of comedy efforts that seem SO focused on being crude and/or gross-out in all ways possible. That, at least for me, makes them no longer funny.
When Juana tries real sushi for the first time, she is immediatley smitten by it and discovers a passion she never knew she had.
Nick Rowland’s She Rides Shotgun is a blistering, blood-soaked road thriller that doubles as a bruised love story between a haunted ex-con (a career-best Taron Egerton) and the daughter he barely knows (astonishing newcomer Ana Sophia Heger). Fueled by white-knuckle chases, razor-tense shootouts, and quiet moments of aching tenderness, the film captures both the terror and fragile beauty of survival. It’s gritty, heartbreaking, and unforgettable—a father-daughter odyssey destined to leave audiences shaken.
A dynamic journey of self-acceptance and identity.
'Blue Beetle' is another solid addition to the superhero film canon.
The Gates, John Burr’s new thriller film, is a disturbingly realistic portrayal of three Black twenty-somethings - Derek (Mason Gooding), Kevin (Algee Smith), and Tyon (Keith Powers), as they accidentally take a wrong turn into a gated community that’s more like a modern-day sundown town. The three friends witness a variety of crimes in their new surroundings, including an attempted homicide and an attempted rape. As they attempt to alert the authorities and do the right thing, they are thwarted at every turn by the worst horror stories of American conservatism - racist white suburbanites, reckless gun violence, corrupt police, religious mania, and a megalomaniacal pastor.
