
This movie is about two girls who both feel lonely living in the big city. One of them is a street musician who comes to play every day in the same place. And there, on the street, among the thousands of passer-bays, a girl comes to her attention whom she soon falls in love with.
Its predictability shouldn’t distract from the enjoyment that the pure cinematic imagination behind the camera elicits. It is a movie of crises both moral and mortal, oozing with CGI, and thoroughly enjoyable.
Elio could be seen as fantastic piece of representation, showing lonely children who feel ostracized that they are not alone. That is, unless you look behind the curtain.
