When Tampa was struck by back to back hurricanes, local teams like College Hunks stepped up in a major way. Clearing debris, delivering supplies, and helping rebuild lives. What started with a single call from Mayor Jane Castor became a citywide movement powered by compassion and hustle. This film is more than a disaster response doc, it’s a tribute to the strength of Tampa and the people who refused to back down.
This film was filled with great plot points. Unfortunately, they all contradicted each other and clashed. Had the premise of Awake been more consistent and accurately portrayed the real world aspect, I think this could have been an extreme success.

Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion is a fan-favorite, as are some of the more science fiction angled movies like 28 Days Later or World War Z. I recently watched the 1995 Wolfgang Peterson-directed movie, Outbreak for the first time, which is currently available on Netflix.
