While Shinji is on the train after taking his beloved Caravan for repairs, he notices a woman being groped. The woman, Nana, accepts the man's hand with a blank look on her face. Shinji invites Nana to be his partner in a black-and-white show. He sleeps at the home of his ex-girlfriend Hanae and performs in the tent hut of street vendor Gen-san. Nana's amateurishness is well-received by the audience, and the show continues to be sold out every day. Then, Nana is given an ocarina as a gift by a middle-aged customer, and suddenly disappears...
I first saw Dear Evan Hansen on the Broadway stage. Apparently, I was so blown away by the magic of theater that I didn’t pick up on the questionable dynamics. The story's clumsy handling in the movie brought those issues to light.
On March 31st, International Trans Day of Visibility, following some COVID related delays, the trailer was finally dropped, and although Taylour Paige and Riley Keough look to impress as lead characters Zola and Stefani, a brief cameo from a queer icon was what convinced me I have to see this movie.

So with the recent (rightful) public apologies to Britney from comedians and media for trashing her image in the 2000s, perhaps some people should also give Crossroads the fair chance it deserves. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, and that is fine. Personally, I will take my girl Britney and her movie, over the next testosterone "Dude Flick" any day.
