Efrat, Dafna and Abigail are three young women who are neighbors in Tel Aviv, Israel. One night the will of their own destiny. A taxi driver picks Abigail accidentally mistaking Dafna and leads to a feature film. A Dafna, also mistakenly comes for the blind date of Efrat and spend a romantic night with this guy. Efrat, meanwhile, is involved in an investigation. Nothing will be as before.
I understand that this would have been consistent with the language used by that generation, due to its role in the medical profession, however as someone who has family members with Down Syndrome I took it very personally.
I hope that more people will see Joyland, understand the situation, and eventually change themselves and society so we can have a more accommodating world where everyday tragedies like the one depicted in the film do not occur.
