‘Malcolm & Marie’ Review: A Promising Premise With Disappointing Results

When Julien is forced to play with his older brother Baxter, whom has learning difficulties, the teenage boys navigate the apocalyptic ruins of a Milltown in Lancashire. Playing cowboys across the harsh landscape, entertaining violent childs-play and vandalism, their environment soon catches up with them when they discover an ice cream van by a disused mill, with a strange loner living inside.

Outer Banks (2020-) knows its audience: young adults in a country that can’t stop romanticizing good ole’ treasure hunts. Add a little of Riverdale’s (2017-) sex appeal, and no one can look away. Forty years after The Goonies (1985) America’s consciousness hasn’t strayed from the same tropes: treasure hunts, a vulnerable white male lead, and the whitewashing of a racially segregated setting.

Spiral could easily spawn new sequels and will most likely churn a decent profit. Is it a good Saw film? Absolutely. Could it have been revolutionary though? Also yes.
The new biopic 'Elvis' highlights the beginning and end of the career of this rock and roll legend. The audience is taken on this journey knowing the tragic ending but not so much about what led him there. A large topic of discussion is the influences on Elvis that made him who he was as a singer, musician, and performer, which were blues, gospel, and country. Many of the songs that rose him to fame were songs by Black artists he heard growing up in primarily Black settings.
