Landscape architect Katharina Klante is overjoyed. Not only has she found her daughter Laura again, whom she had to give up for adoption as a baby, but she has also fallen in love with Martin Vogt. As Laura's adoptive father, he has been caring for the girl for the past 20 years. After Martin's divorce, there seems to be nothing standing in the way of their new family happiness.
If I had truly wished to witness "Guardians of the Galaxy", I would have stayed home to do so. Instead, I went to the IMAX and took in this newest incarnation of one of the most recognized and adapted superheroes in the DC Universe. **Sigh** Let me be clear here. I am NOT saying this is an AWFUL film.
The gentle, emotional nuances of Evan’s coming-of-age story would have been so beneficial to have incorporated into the life of a POC character. Showing a Black, Asian or Latino young man that is afforded the space to be vulnerable, flawed and sensitive while driving a compelling and widely-loved narrative would have been a game changer.
