It tells the story of a shepherd's son who loses his mother to cancer, going through a difficult time when he needs to part with his beloved buffalo to support his family's finances. He tries to find various ways so that his father won't sell his beloved buffalo. Since childhood, Mawi has lived closely with buffaloes because Pok Chek is a shepherd. Among the many buffaloes that his father herds, there is one that Mawi is very close to and loves dearly, named Damak.
With This is Us now on its fifth season and A Million Little Things on its third, we have a lot of material to entertain the hypothetical: if these two shows got in the ring together, who would come out victorious? Despite the endless recognition for the former’s success, I dare say I’d put my money on A Million Little Things once all is said and done.
The film's storylines read as allegories for the queer experience and that's a source of solace for LGBTQIA+ fans!
Netflix’s new mystery thriller, The Marked Woman (released originally as La Desconocida), is confusing. More critically, though, it commits the worst mistake a movie can make: it’s boring. A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night, though its feminism may be unintentional, cannot exist without its focus on women reclaiming power. The movie is feminist by definition, even if Amirpour didn’t write it with that in mind. A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night is mesmerizing, poetic, and stunning, both for its portrayal of feminist ideas and its powerful story that is both horrific and subtly romantic at once.
Gay representation is out there, but to portray a character who's gay as a big, happy brute is a rare treat.
