After Ami and her stepbrother Hiroshi share a night together, the phone rings with devastating news: their parents have died. A year later, Ami lives with Hiroshi and his wife, Mariko. On the surface, the couple appears happy, but tension simmers between Ami and Mariko. One day, Mariko lashes out at Ami for constantly intruding into their bedroom uninvited. Losing her composure, Ami blurts out her the secret of her history with Hiroshi.
If you are a discerning movie watcher and/or an African-American with a modicum of Black consciousness, this film isn’t for you. It would be better to watch the documentary ‘They Fight’ to see the impactful, emotional story of Walter Manigan and the young men of DC’s Ward 8.
The shattering of what we strive to maintain as reality. It is certainly truthful to state that most, if not all, of us have experienced moments of genuine mental stress. Regardless of what might be the cause, the sheer unsettledness, the pressure that weighs upon us is a tangible force that CAN seem insurmountable. However, more often than not, this is only a temporary , one we can come through and simply move on from.
Peppered with whimsical humor, heartbreaking realizations, and heartwarming discoveries, The Incomer is surprisingly endearing through and through.
