Michael is a charming manipulator who hides himself in relationships to avoid dealing with the secrets he's kept from everyone; including himself. Instead of addressing the issue, he adds to it. Each decision gets heavier with every choice, the choice begins to weigh not only on Michael but the people he's involved with as well until he realizes he's way too deep and his past is starting to catch up to the real him.

I first saw Dear Evan Hansen on the Broadway stage. Apparently, I was so blown away by the magic of theater that I didn’t pick up on the questionable dynamics. The story's clumsy handling in the movie brought those issues to light.

Despite its aggressiveness, the Beef anthology series is about romantic love in all its forms. The final scene of the first season led us to believe that, despite the conflict, drama, and toxic traits, the main characters would end up together and, most likely, live happily ever after. The whole “beef” plot was the prelude to their love story.
