Over the course of an important day, Valentin faces decisive moments in which his grandfather’s light silently guides his steps toward maturity, in a story that unfolds as a tender chronicle of daily life.
While it is more than established that Halston’s life is far from a fairytale, the narrative suffers as a result of the decision to revolve more around sex and drugs than his artistry, it likely does a disservice to his cultural impact by pulling focus from his achievements.
At least we got the original cast back, right? Not even that saves it. None of them could bring a sliver of hope to this special. Rather, they bring dread as we witness the light leaving from their eyes.
