Armenian-American filmmaker Theodore Bogosian travels to eastern Turkey in search of his birthplace and the history of his family, who were killed during the massacres of the 1910s. Filming under restrictive conditions, he explores competing narratives surrounding the events.
This film was filled with great plot points. Unfortunately, they all contradicted each other and clashed. Had the premise of Awake been more consistent and accurately portrayed the real world aspect, I think this could have been an extreme success.
While Peter’s heroics might have been a bit unrealistic at times due to his lack of experience, I will always support the civilian taking down the establishment.
