Two sisters with magical powers serve as co-rulers of the kingdom of Nellurupattinam. An astrologer forms a plan to depose the two queens in favor of their nephew. The young man wins the right to the throne after completing three challenges, and also marries a first cousin which he loves. But his aunt and new mother-in-law uses her daughter to poison him. The young man dies and is resurrected. He asks King Dharma for the right of revenge, but Dharma orders the execution of the man's wife instead of his aunts.
Seeing that the film was essentially his first big, mainstream feature, and with garnering a leading role — portraying the revolutionary ball-player Jackie Robinson — Boseman, without question, delivered a performance that is still so incredibly moving, respectful, genuine, and true to the core of his obviously sincere, artistic heart; and with that, it is indeed so saddening to see him pass.

As a huge fan of Sean Baker’s Tangerine, The Florida Project, and Red Rocket, I’ve wanted to watch Anora since before it even was released. But life got in the way, my watchlist grew, and honestly, the fact that it was marketed as a romantic comedy put me off. Even with all the critical praise and the five Academy Awards it won last year, I just kept postponing it indefinitely.

Overall, The Shining is a great film to watch for its atmosphere and setting. While the characters’ portrayals could’ve been more accurate to the book, they’re all still memorable nonetheless.
