The young hotel manager Leutner runs for study purposes a transmitter in the hotel room of his fiancée Maria. Coincidentally he learns that a gang of counterfeiters want to get rid of a troublesome witness at 12:15 AM. Will Leutner be able to prevent this… and can he trust his fiancée at all? Cheats, swindlers, forgers and murderers are hiding under the mask of honest and reputable hotel guests.

Director Martin Scorsese broadens his boundaries from mafia-driven movies, to a Buddhist biopic of the 14th Dalai Lama. While Buddhism strives for peace, ‘Kundun’ reveals the violence inflicted on Tibetan Buddhists and Scorsese’s depiction of violence does not stray away.
This is ambitious horror filmmaking, and in a lot of ways, I fully admire its ambitions. For me, the film’s sloppiness defines its overall quality.
