Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé is set for release on December 1, 2023. Join Incluvie in reviewing the trailer of this legendary trailblazer.
It is Beyoncé’s Internet, her world, and now – her film masterpiece. Few modern musical figures are as beloved and endlessly discussed as the Queen Bee. Like her, LOVE her, or hate her because you are a hater, Beyoncé continues to break her own ceilings while pushing her musical craft forward. The Renaissance tour is one of the top 10 highest grossing tours of all time, and is Beyoncé’s highest grossing tour to date. There is something so empowering seeing a woman in her 40s going beyond surviving in a world that makes older women invisible, and actually thriving and smashing her own expectations. Its ridiculous that I even had to type that sentence, but we all live in this world where people pretend over 30 is over the hill for fun, art, and performance. I love to see acts like Beyoncé and Taylor Swift take down the glass ceilings for women.
The film will be a cinematic mastering of the 2023 Renaissance Tour. Fans will relive the amazing guest performers including, Megan Thee Stallion, Blu Ivy Carter, Solange, and more. She even had the legendary Diana Ross come out and sing happy birthday to her!
There are also the celebrity attendees: all the previous members of Destiny’s Child, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, LeToya Luckett, and Latavia, to Oprah, Paul McCartney, Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa, Selena Gomez, Frank Ocean, and so many more celebrities and social media influencers. The visuals. The vocals. The incomparable Beyoncé.
Beyoncé’s voice is wearing a darker, harsher timbre in this era of her decades-long career. This is fascinating to hear on some of her classic songs in her catalogue. For instance, the darker timbre sounds absolutely bombastic on a new rendition of “Survivor” from the Destiny’s Child catalog. It also gives songs like “Energy” and “Break My Soul” a grit befit for the late great Queen of Rock & Roll, Tina Turner.
“Energy” also brings the social media ‘MUTE’ challenge that went viral across Beyoncé’s internet. Fans online and at the shows had their heads on a swivel making sure no one messed up the challenge by singing during the silent pause after Beyoncé sings “everybody on mute.”
There are so many iconic compilations of the tour, from the catwalk compilation, Blu Ivy’s dance breaks, and funny bloopers where Beyoncé turns mistakes into iconic moments. This is a MOMENT in pop culture history. Renaissance was a celebration of Black Women first and foremost, and an affirmation of Black LGBT and all of the queer community, women’s liberation, the Black experience, and joy. The album also acts as a historical exploration, showcasing Black musical forms outside of R&B, rap, and hip-hop, that often get less attention. Renaissance has house music, vogue, electro, dance, and jazz elements. There are references to Black women pioneers in music, Black LGBT icons, and nods to cultural and fashion icons. Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé will capture all of this with the vision that Queen Bee intended.
Now enjoy Beyonce reminding you that she is that girl until December 1st.
