'You Are SO Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah'
Friendships are tested when two girls have a crush on the popular boy at school.

Five years after Blackboard (2000) by Smira Makhmalbaf, in 2005, Whiteboard was released. It is directed by Fardin Batmani. This film tells the story of the negative impact of the Blackboards on the villagers in general and Said's social life in particular. It shows the realistic side of literate and cultural life in the region.

I can say without question, that this is the first movie I’ve ever seen where art imitates life so much that I could 100% identify with it on a personal level. The predominately Black cast of characters are people with hopes, dreams, fears, and ambitions.
Wacky antics ensue when a 100-year-old Jewish man wakes up from a pickled hibernation in the modern world.
As noted in the headline, I didn’t like this movie. Not to say it’s the worst thing ever, but it’s just…meh. Nothing much to it. Very generic. No surprises. At the very least, the cast is diverse so I’ll give it that.
Two movies that do a fantastic job in conveying the ongoing struggle for racial justice are Selma (2014) and Just Mercy (2019).
That gut-wrenching feeling you have while watching it is okay but needed, and you, the viewer, will be okay.
