"Outerlands" Provides Community in Unexpected Places
Intergenerational friendships and community can be so powerful, and this was a great example.

To protect themselves from a mysterious phenomenon that turns women into men, a family retreats to an alpine chalet. Their desire to preserve the female sex within the family leads them down a path of radicalization. The descent into inhumanity unfolds almost imperceptibly, and patterns of behavior long thought to be outgrown resurface. Better able to cope with protogyny, the children offer a small glimmer of hope.

The height of subversive horror cinema is Jennifer’s Body. No, I will never budge on that. Yes, Cabin in The Woods is funny, Scream is very well made, and the Scary Movie franchise is …. there. But nothing is quite as satisfying as watching the teenage succubus that is Jennifer Check rip apart boys. In the post #metoo era where the industry is far from changed, watching revenge flicks like these is probably one of the most cathartic experiences due to the slow-moving progress being made.
A lot of us are emotionally impacted by the current pandemic. So, while we’re all stuck here in our homes, it’s great to put on a movie to ease the stress. With that, I made up a small list of some of my favorite feel-good movies.
This Netflix series is about Ashley Garcia, who gets a once in a lifetime opportunity to work at NASA.
Overall, Cruella stands above the other Disney retellings. Its dark and bold, and that is exactly what these retellings should be. Emma Stone continues to prove she's one of the finest young actresses working today, and Emma Thompson gives one of the best villain performances in the last decade. The fashion is stunning, the dogs are adorable, and the story is wildly vibrant and original. It's classic movie fun, and it shouldn't be overlooked.
