"The Old Guard" doesn't break ground, but it sure does bust boredom and fictional heads as an entertaining action romp on Netflix.
We Will Be Together No Matter What
When Vera’s husband realizes that she will never be able to bear him children, he leaves her for her best friend. Struggling to recover from this betrayal, Vera takes in a homeless orphan she finds on the street and decides to adopt him. She is unaware that the boy, Vanya, is the heir to a vast fortune—and that he is being hunted. A man she happens to meet, a lawyer also named Ivan, offers to help her with the adoption process. However, upon meeting Vanya, he realizes that this is the very boy being sought by his own clients—guardians who are after the child’s inheritance. Now, Ivan and Vera face a difficult choice: should they act according to the letter of the law, or according to their conscience?
