After the war of 2022, which occurred due to the superiority that humans felt towards the species they had created, leading to a revolt among the latter, chaos ensued throughout the world, as if it were the apocalypse. Changes in legislation and other regulations gave men the power to dominate, with many women being killed or genetically altered for sexist reasons, and new species emerging in laboratories. Get The Tissues for Remarkably Bright Creatures

Rare in the days of franchise sequels and indie horror films that dominate the screen in 2026, Netflix’s latest original release, Remarkably Bright Creatures, is a feel-good family movie that leaves nothing to be desired except tissues. Starring Sally Field and Lewis Pullman as two cleaners at a small-town aquarium, Remarkably Bright Creatures reminds viewers that humans are social animals whose strength comes not from our intelligence or our opposable thumbs, but from each other.

'Mortal Kombat' Won't Win Any Awards, but it's a Bloody Good Time

In addition to the cast being delightfully diverse this time around, the film was just loosely-plotted and action-packed enough to keep a casual fan like myself entertained. While I do agree that the writing of Cole left much to be desired for an original character thrust into a preconceived universe, none of the characters seemed particularly fleshed out in terms of personality; however, I think that's to be expected when you're watching a film literally inspired by a video game.
