Seyyed Hassan, a young seminary student, is preparing to don the clerical attire. But while his fellow students excitedly prepare for graduation, Seyyed finds his doubts and uncertainties start to bubble to the surface. When his formal clothes are stolen by a small boy before the ceremony, Seyyed heads out into town to find the culprit and reclaim his property. As he learns about the people in his community, their plights and their poverties, he inadvertently starts down the path he was always meant for - becoming the missionary who will help deliver these people from their everyday struggles and grant them the hope and salvation needed to reform their lives.
If you were to watch it on streaming when you have nothing to do, it’s still probably a giant waste of time, but you could do far worse. Paying $18 for a movie ticket and who knows how much for concessions turns this from an exercise in boredom to an exercise in frustration.
Ripley is a great character because she serves two distinct, but rewarding, purposes in the original film and the sequel.
What are we willing to walk through to see our dreams come to pass? Our minds might be so wholly alive with the passions we carry and the plans we make to see these things become all we wish them to be, yet life doesn’t always want to come alongside. Instead, obstacles arise, both physical and mental, which attempt to dissuade us or even prevent us from moving forward, stalling or stagnating the momentum to achieve what we desire. The age-old question remains….can we overcome? Or will we BE overcome?
The film does not add anything to its own conversation or genre, and falls flat once it’s about to end and must declare some sort of conclusion.

Escape The Field is a serviceable horror thriller. The characters are easier to remember as horror character tropes. As I wrote this review, I only remembered the characters by their tropes: #FinalGirl, #Everyman, #Badass, #MeanB*/SexyGirl, #Realist/BlackLesbian, and #TheNerd.
