Postwar times. A former soldier writes a letter to his wife, recalling their life together. He talks about their home, about the city that survived, about the fountain that dried up. But it gradually becomes clear that these letters will never be read. A story about the pain of loss and the inability to let go of the past. A movie about love that lives in words that will never find their addressee.
I highly recommend Dark Waters. It’s a highly engrossing picture, which lends itself to cautionary storytelling. The dark information continually grows, inspiring change and accountability altogether. Overall, Haynes’ picture will not be known for its inclusiveness--but it will be known for being a fantastic, engrossing film.
The cultural insensitivity of 'Slumberland' is discreet, and can be easily overlooked in CGI extravaganza.
The documentary depicts the indigenous people of Mexico with sublime reverence, highlighting a generational harmony with the land.
This current year, as well as the past several, has seen a slowly building increase in something the horror genre has required for quite a while in this critic's opinion...originality. I've stated before that I am very hard to please when it comes to this vein of the film industry's offerings, always leaning more towards that which sends chills through my very being in lieu of buckets of blood and gore.
As a musical fan, I enjoyed the film and encourage anyone who likes dark humour and a bit of blood to give it a watch.
