Netflix’s ‘The Old Guard’ is an Entertaining Flick
"The Old Guard" doesn't break ground, but it sure does bust boredom and fictional heads as an entertaining action romp on Netflix.

This film tells the story of the Republic of China period. Qifan, a descendant of a family of tomb builders, possesses the skill but has no opportunity to use it. He refuses to engage in grave robbing, even when his uncle Lao Hu, who makes a living through deceit and trickery, tries to persuade him to use his tomb-building abilities for treasure hunting. However, fate takes an unexpected turn when Qifan inadvertently reveals his identity and attracts the attention of bandits, forcing him to enter a tomb. Along the way, Qifan does everything in his power to prevent the bandits from looting treasures. The group initially enters the tomb of the martial arts master Guo Dingfeng for financial gain but stumbles upon an even bigger secret.

If the message here is that without a support system, grieving people turn into monsters, it’s not really well-delivered and may be flawed as a message itself.
