Animation as a medium of storytelling can be thought to be open to all ages and as I hope my reading will reveal, 'Nimona' could be interpreted as a transgender story.

Serena is hanging out with her best friend Madison and her makeup kit, shes getting a makeover as they tease and tickle each other. Surprised by an unexpected visit from Navar, they start right away to harass him and threaten him with the makeup stuff! Willing to be a good guinea pig, Navar lets the best friends practice on him with their new brush. The makeup moment evolves into caresses and kisses, where jokes turn to willingness, curiosity and sudden desire.
