The Price of an Affair
Kosaku Tori, an ordinary office worker in the advertising department of a major electrical appliance manufacturer, has been married to his wife Tsuruko for nine years and has a daughter in primary school. By chance, he begins an affair with Yoshie, a showroom hostess. Drowning in her sexy physique, Kosaku sinks deeper and deeper into the abyss of his desires. However, an affair is an expensive affair. Using his credit card and cancelling his staff travel pass, Kosaku becomes increasingly consumed by his relationship with Yoshie. Then one day, Tsuruko finds a pager in the corner of their bedroom. It contained a love message from Yoshie to Kosaku...!

In Spike Lee’s She’s Gotta Have It (1986), we follow the love life of powerful female protagonist Nola Darling (Tracy Camilla Johns) and explore the relationship dynamics she has with her partners. She sees three men simultaneously: Greer Childs, (John Canada Terrell) Mars Blackmon (Spike Lee), and Jamie Overstreet (Tommy Redmond Hicks). Though an 80’s film, She’s Gotta Have It is surprisingly progressive with its themes of female sexuality, although at some points in the film it is handled clumsily. Overall Nola is an incredibly compelling character especially for modern women, as we as a society acknowledge female sensuality more and more without the negative stigma.
